INTERNET MARKETING REFERENCE GUIDE
Pay-Per-Click Advertising on Search Engines
Pay-Per-Click advertising is a great way to increase pre-qualified
traffic exactly when needed. When used in conjunction with
Search Engine Marketing, Pay-Per-Click advertising can complete
a very successful Internet marketing campaign.
For example, it would not be advantageous for a ticket
broker to create an HTML page for a concert benefit the
Rolling Stones just announced would take place in two months.
If they were to attain rankings in the free listings for
'Rolling Stones benefit tickets', it would probably be too
late. However, with Pay-Per-Click advertising, they could
have an ad up and running the day of the announcement. This
allows for a company to sell certain items or services exactly
when they want to.
The ticket company can then concentrate on attaining free
listings for keywords to events that they have tickets for
year round, like the circus. When implemented properly,
the ticket company will have a steady stream of visitors
to their site each month, while only having to pay for a
certain percentage of them.
This eliminates the threat of bid harassment. If there
is three or four stubborn competitors that are only concerned
with ranking No. 1, and in the process they have driven
the average cost-per-click for a certain set of keywords
up, a web site that has traffic from rankings within the
free listings does not have to worry about losing vital
traffic by being ranked fourth.
